Where to Buy the Moto X Phone
As I’ve already mentioned above, the phone is available on 4 US carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint). The Moto X price starts at $199.
Motorola has started selling a number of Moto X accessories and cases. The company has teamed up with Power Support, Griffin and Incase to produce docks, screen protectors and cases for the upcoming device. Following the link you may see ImSoMobile chart of the top Moto X accessories and cases.
Moto X Overview
It’s a big challenge to find Android smartphone that boasts a perfect combination of specs, size and price. As for me, the Moto X phone is a balanced device that can compete with a number of other popular handsets like the HTC One, iPhone 5s and Galaxy S4.
The Moto X phone is the first Motorola device that was fully developed under the company’s partner Google. Soon after the official unveiling back in August, the handset became available on all leading US carriers. But we’ll talk about that a bit later. Now let’s get to the Moto X phone specs.
The handset lacks microSD card support, which is an epic fail for Motorola. At the same time, the phone boasts more impressive features like a brand new design, a high-res camera with bigger pixels density, a powerful battery that makes the device last for longer, and more.
First made-in-America phone. The biggest part of the Moto X design story is the made-in-America pattern. According to Motorola, “all Moto X units were designed, engineered and constructed in Fort Worth, Texas.” Originally, the handset comes in two color options: Black and White. However, you are free to customize the phone choosing among a wide color palette. To do that, you will need to place a special order at Motorola’s new Texas factory.
Design. Unlike its predecessors that had harshly chiseled lines mostly, the Moto X boasts softly rounded curves. The rear panel of the handset is a bit rounded for a more comfortable grip. That’s the approach the majority of modern smartphone makers are choosing nowadays, e.g. the HTC One and HTC One Mini, the Galaxy S4, and more. The phone developers even selected a specially formed battery – 2200mAh – to fit the Moto X unique design.
When I picked up the Moto X phone for the first time, I was impressed how good it feels in hand. Its rounded frame fits the palm like a glove. In addition, owing to its soft-touch backing fingerprints and dirt is kept away from the handset rear.
Display. Although the Moto X’s screen is large enough (4.7”), it still lags behind the displays of the leading smartphone makers – HTC and Samsung. When competing with such phones as the HTC One, Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z that boast 4.7-inch displays with full-HD resolutions (1920 x 1080 pixels), the Moto X offers an AMOLED 1280 x 720 pixels screen only. However, when comparing brightness and color quality, the difference is not that remarkable.
Software. The Moto X phone was born of the Motorola and Google union, that is why it’s clear that the handset runs Android OS. However, we were surprised to find out that the phone runs Android 4.2.2. Jelly Bean instead of the updated Android 4.3.
One of the key innovations Google has brought to the device is the addition of Touchless Control. That means the phone will continually ‘listen’ to your voice and follow instructions after you pronounce the magic phrase. Here is how it works:
Moto X Camera. Motorola has finally brought a powerful camera to its devices. The Moto X phone boasts a 10 MP Clear Pixel RGBC sensor with LED flash. The smartphone camera will snap pictures at high speed and grab 75% more light that HTC and Samsung cameras. Here are a few shots taken with the Moto X camera.
Battery. When comparing the Moto X battery life with the HTC One and Galaxy S4, the first one showed the best results running an HD movie for about 1o hours. The HTC One worked for a bit more than 9 hours, and the Galaxy S4 performed for a bit longer- 10.5 hours.
Moto X durability. Recently, the gadget insurance company SquareTrade Inc. has decided to check out which of the leading smartphones is worth our money in a durable test. The Moto X was named the king of durability. After it was dropped at 5 feet, slid across the table, and even kept underwater for 10 seconds, the phone worked as though nothing had happened. You may take a closer look at the Moto X durability test here.
