Brief Nexus 5 Overview
Camera. Cameras have always been the weakest parts of Nexus devices. However, with the launch of the 8MP Nexus 5 this situation might change for better. According to Google’s Play Store, the Nexus 5 camera is being described in the following way: “Capture the everyday and the epic in fresh new ways.” The Nexus 5 will reportedly come with 8MP rear-facing camera supporting optical image stabilization giving it an edge in video recording and low light image capturing.
OS. We’ve already mentioned earlier that the Nexus 5 will be the first device coming with Android 4.4 on board. Report goes the next Android version will come with a much clearer design. The first thing you will mention when looking at the four-icon dock is that Hangouts has replaced Messenger as the default messaging app. In addition, big changes have been brought to the Android TV platform. Other Android 4.4 features include:
- New notification widgets
- Miracast updates
- Filmware availability to older phones
- New Gallery Visualisation
- Fragmentation changes (screen resizing)
- New API regarding animations
- Android default blue can be changed to other color schemes
Battery. The Nexus 5 will come with 2300mAh battery, the longevity of which is still to be verified. In addition, the biggest prerogative of the Nexus 5 smartphone is wireless charging support via the Qi standard, which will allow you to pick among various offered chargers.
Hardware. The LG Nexus 5 will boast the latest Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. That makes the smartphone as powerful as other leading handsets like the Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2.
Display. The Nexus 5 will have the largest screen ever found on Nexus devices. Just like its predecessors, the Nexus 5 will come with on-screen buttons, but have a nearly 5-inch display with pixels resolution of 1080 x 1920.
LG Nexus 5 Launch
Both black and white Nexus 5 models are to be released this Friday, November 1. According to a listing on Google Play, the LG Nexus 5 price tag will make up $349 at launch. As it was earlier reported, Best Buy manager claims there would not be the same supply issues we saw with the Nexus 4 release. Google shares it has plenty of devices in stock and will launch the Nexus 5 in multiple retail stores and carriers. Rumor has it, the new Android handset will be available on carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are not likely to carry the device at first.
