It’s become a common practice to hold drop tests of the newly released devices. This autumn we’ve already seen at least two drop tests of the much-talked-of Galaxy Note 3, new iPhones as well as Moto X.
First, we were checking the durability of iPhone 5c vs. iPhone 5s vs. Moto X vs. Samsung S4, saw the new smartphones being dropped and plunged into the water. That time the gadget insurance company SquareTrade Inc. crowned the Moto X the king of durability. Then, we saw the Galaxy Note 3 passing a tough test being dropped on its display, back and one of its sides. That time it didn’t show good results, though. In our today’s drop test we’ll give the Galaxy Note 3 second chance and see how it will pass another tough drop test alongside with the iPhone 5S.
Like in the previously discussed test, in the new Galaxy Note 3 vs iPhone 5s drop test both devices are being thrown on the back, one of their sides and on the display. Before we move to discussing each of the drop tests, I guess it’s worth mentioning that both Samsung and Apple are now using the toughest glass for their displays – Gorilla Glass 3, so they should resist falling down on the front panel pretty well. However, don’t be too sure.
Galaxy Note 3 vs iPhone 5s Drop Test Video
After being dropped on the back, the Galaxy Note 3 got some minor damage only. The camera felt fine, there were some minor scratches on the back. Who knows how the phablet would have passed the test if there ware no leather covering on the rear panel. Unlike its competitor, after the first drop the upper and lower side of the iPhone 5S panel got shattered. It wasn’t the best idea to add some glass to the real shell of the device.
Next comes a side drop. Both the Galaxy Note 3 and iPhone 5S passed the side drop pretty well. There were some minor scratches on the edges, the screen was not shattered.
Drop on the face. The new Galaxy Note 3 display survived, most likely because of some bezel that comes up above the screen. Unlike the iPhone 5S whose screen got completely damaged, the Galaxy Note 3 functioned pretty well and got only some minor scratches on the upper bezel.
Do you still doubt which handset to choose?
