I guess you’ve mentioned that the Ultra and Maxx have similar displays – 5-inch, 720p OLEDs. Though the refreshed Droid line is still lacking the RGB stripe displays that the HTC One and iPhone 5 boast, the screens of the Ultra and Maxx use an alternate pixel pattern similar to the Galaxy S3 with its 4.8-inch 720p display.

Motorola Droid Ultra

Both the Ultra and Maxx boast longer battery life, which enables power users to make it through a whole day with a single charge. While the Droid Maxx boasts a 3.500mAh pack, the Ultra has a 2130mAh one. However, that will be more than enough for about 48 hours of normal usage.

In terms of design, the two handsets differ a bit. While the Ultra has a glossy red or black finish, the Maxx has a soft-touch black one.

Motorola Droid Maxx

Motorola Droid Ultra has an ultra-thin profile. Measuring only 7.18mm, it’s been touted as the “thinnest 4G LTE smartphone available.” What is more, being extremely thin, the smartphone is rather light, weighing 4.94 ounces only. The edges of the smartphone are gently curved, which makes it easier to grip the device.

Unlike its bigger siblings, the Droid Mini comes with a 4.3-inch LCD 720p display. As for its battery size, the smartphone will last for 24 hours with 2.000mAh battery. Of course, it’s not as impressive as the Droid Maxx that delivers up to 48 hours of active usage, still it’s not that bad for a common customer. In terms of dimensions, the Mini is similar to the Maxx being 8.9mm and 8.5mm thin, respectively.

Special Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini Features

All three models run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which includes a number of improvements from Motorola. For instance, buying the Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra or Droid Mini, you will get a number of camera improvements as well as features like Droid Zap, Motorola Connect, Active Displays, access to Google Now at any time while saying “Ok Google Now.”

The camera app of all three new Droid models includes a number of settings that can be accessed with a swipe to the right. With Droid Zap you are free to share photos with friends – simply swipe with two fingers upwards. Your photos will be sent to the personalized cloud account, which can be accessed by other Droid users. If you want to pull images from the cloud, simply perform a two-finger swipe downward.

Motorola Connect feature is similar to Android’s Mighty Text app. After installing a Chrome extension on your PC, you will be able to read and reply to text messages as well as see incoming calls even when the handset is not by your side.

And the last but not the least is the Active Display feature, which means that the display will pulse to reveal time and notifications.

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

To help you decide which of the three new Droid phones will fit you the most, we are offering you a list of the most helpful reviews of those people who have already tried how the new Droid lineup works.

What’s great about it: ANDROID, BUILD, BATTERY
What’s not so great: PRICE!!!
Purchased Droid Maxx is store on 10/10/13. I have always been a Motorola fan as they have always had a great build quality. The battery on this is awesome. There is not as much Bloatware as one might think. You can easily “Disable” the majority of what can not be “Uninstalled”. The weight of the phone can be a little cumbersome but I usually use bluetooth or the speaker phone when possible. The screen is awesome. 1080p is over rated in my opinion as i do not make it a habit of watching movies on my phone. This phone is surpisingly snappy for being a dual core. I think Motorola is on the right track making even beter phones. – posted by RAB

I’ve received the Droid Ultra as a gift for my 18th Birthday and it’s my first Droid Phone, it’s been about 48 hours to the time I’m making this review and I’m still getting to know what I’ve got. I’ll be honest its bigger than I expected even though I looked at it online and it said it had 5 inch screen; way bigger than my old iPhone 4S and just a tad smaller than the Galaxy Note II and very Sleek with It’s Do-Pont Kevlar and Corning Gorilla Glass (assuming it has that kind of glass). Over all, It’s Great for watching videos on youtube and I’m still finding more features on this Sharp Piece of Technology. I’ll be with this phone for Months to come. Thank you, Motorola!

What’s great about it: ?
What’s not so great: Too Small
I realize the Droid Mini was new on the market when I received it, but the reception was awful and Verizon didn’t know what to do about it. The other complaint was the size of the phone. I realize it is called a “mini” but wow try to type a text with the little keys! Too small for navigation and reading something on the web.
This product is… too small!!! – posted by rspb

I think the Mini is the best deal because unlike other “minis” out there, you’re getting mostly the same internals. In this case, you’re even getting the same screen resolution which results in a higher ppi. Charging more for less…I guess that’s the Verizon difference.
