HTC is now a major player in the smartphone market offering multiple devices running Android as well and Windows Mobile OS. It is known for developing amazing hardware, but now rumor has it the company is to release its own OS.
As HTC chief financial officer has claimed, “We continue to assess, but that requires a few conditions to justify.” Still, it’s not clear which conditions he was talking about.
New HTC Marketing Strategy
It hasn’t been unveiled whether the new operating system will be built on top of Google’s Android (or any other OS) or the company will develop it from scratch. What is known it that HTC operating system will feature deep integration with the Chinese microblogging service Weibo, according to Wall Street Journal. In such a way the company wants to gain Chinese customers loyalty and boost its marketshare in the country.
The main HTC rivals have already developed their own operating systems (Apple has launched iOS, while BlackBerry has started offering BlackBerry OS). Now it’s high time for HTC to release something new.
HTC with Windows Mobile
HTC with Windows Mobile differ from other devices running this OS. Initially, HTC gained success owing to the original Windows user interface, though in some time the company decided to develop their own user interface and in such a way differentiate HTC offers from other products available on the market.
HTC has been gaining good profits over the last couple of years, though now the company is losing its marketshare to Samsung which might cause the first HTC loss in history.
The possible name of the new HTC operating system has not been revealed yet, though it’s likely the new operating system is being tested at the moment and customers should expect it to be released by the end of the year.
